This page provides an up-to-date snapshot of activity related to XMPP Extension Protocols, as maintained by the XEP Editor.

Interim Versions

These are Draft and Final XEPs that are undergoing revision. All such changes must be approved by the XMPP Council before they are officially published.

XEP-0001: XMPP Extension Protocols

Version: 1.20rc2

Status: Requires Board approval. Council feedback requested.

XEP-0047: In-Band Bytestreams

Version: 1.3rc1

Changelog: Clarified error handling.

Status: Seems complete but might need further review. Perhaps move forward with other file-transfer-related specs (65, 234, 260, 261).

XEP-0060: Publish-Subscribe

Version: 1.13rc13

Status: Revisions are complete. Data versioning removed.

XEP-0163: Personal Eventing Protocol

Version: 1.2rc4

Status: See note on XEP-0060.

XEP-0237: Roster Versioning

Version: 1.1rc1

Changelog: Corrected rules about when to include the ver attribute.

Status: Ready for a vote by the Council.

Calls for Experience

A Call for Experience is issued when the Council is considering advancement of a XEP from Draft to Final.

There are no Calls for Experience at this time.

Last Calls

A Last Call is issued when the Council is considering advancement of a XEP from Experiment to Draft (or, for informational specifications, Active).

A second Last Call on XEP-0227: Portable Import/Export Format for XMPP-IM Servers ended on November 6. No further changes expected, so this is probably ready for another vote by the Council.

A Last Call on XEP-0226: Message Stanza Profiles ended on November 13. Modifications to follow.

To Be Deferred

Experimental XEPs are automatically deferred after 12 months of inactivity (i.e., no new published version).

The following XEPs are set to be automatically deferred within the next 30 days.
