This page provides an up-to-date snapshot of activity related to XMPP Extension Protocols, as maintained by the XEP Editor for use by the XMPP Council. See also the vote tallies.
Interim Versions
These are Draft and Final XEPs that are undergoing revision. All such changes must be approved by the XMPP Council before they are officially published.
XEP-0047: In-Band Bytestreams

Status: Seems complete but might need further review. Perhaps move forward with other file-transfer-related specs (65, 234, 260, 261).
XEP-0060: Publish-Subscribe
Version: 1.13rc13
Changelog: See interim version.
Status: Revisions are complete. Ralph Meijer voted -1 and shall specify his objections.

XEP-0184: Message Receipts
Version: 1.1rc2
Changelog: Relaxed the business rules to allow inclusion of receipt requests even to the bare JID and even if the sender does not yet know whether the intended recipient supports this protocol; clarified the level of reliability that this protocol does and does not provide.

Calls for Experience
A Call for Experience is issued when the Council is considering advancement of a XEP from Draft to Final.
There are no Calls for Experience at this time.
Last Calls
A Last Call is issued when the Council is considering advancement of a XEP from Experiment to Draft (or, for informational specifications, Active).
A Last Call on XEP-0226: Message Stanza Profiles ended on November 13. Modifications to follow.
To Be Deferred
Experimental XEPs are automatically deferred after 12 months of inactivity (i.e., no new published version).
The following XEPs are set to be automatically deferred within the next 30 days.
Inbox
The Inbox contains proposals that have not yet been accepted by the XMPP Council for publication as official XEPs.
There are currently no items in the inbox.
Other Items
- XEP-0193 / multiple resources per stream: several people have expressed an interest in bring back this feature (which was removed from rfc3920bis). Is the Council receptive to taking this on?
- XEP-0232 / software information: this was recently deferred for inactivity but there is still interest in moving this forward. Can the Council review it again and more clearly specify its objections?
- Roundups: an overview of the XEPs activity needs to be (ir)regularly published on blog.xmpp.org.
