Where?
I live in Carmarthen, in West Wales (which is an area of Wales in the Southwest). Wales is part of the UK, but isn't England. And I'm English, not Welsh. Gosh, it's confusing, isn't it?
IETF Work
Mostly IMAP, although I did quite a bit on ACAP, and know my way around SMTP. I've also a passing familiarity with SASL, including some work on SCRAM. I have (around) 8 RFCs in my name, and several more where I'm listed in Acknowledgements, dating back to RFC 3027 in 2001.
XSF Work
Council: 2020, 2019, 2018 (Chair), 2017 (Chair), 2016, 2015, 2014, 2009 (Partial), 2008, 2007
Board: 2020, 2015, 2013, 2011 (Chair)
XEPs: 12 XEPs list me as author, I think, and a total of 60(!) mention me by name. Of the ones I'm listed as a co-author of, the most impressive is probably XEP-0001, though I wrote very very little of it.
Employment
I am the owner/director of Extensible Messaging Ltd, which makes me sound very important indeed. Really I'm essentially self-employed, or self-unemployed, depending on how you look at it. Previously Peppy Health, Armour Communications, Forward Health / Pando / Juno, Threads Styling, Surevine, Inky, and Isode. All the jobs I've had since sometime in Isode have been XMPP-related except at Inky (standards-based email) and Peppy.
Software
Done stuff with ejabberd, MongooseIM, Openfire, Prosody, and M-Link in my past. Also done a surprising amount with SliXMPP. Created Metre from scratch. All of this in "Critical Messaging" applications.
