XMPP history

This project is intended to move to the new XMPP community infrastructure when that is made available. Anyone can join this project, this project will be announced on the new XMPP community infrastructure.

Tasks

• Create a list of all XMPP softwares that once existed or still exists
• Divide this list in clients, libs, servers, and others
• Create a time line graph with all {clients|libs|servers|others}
• Recover and host the latest version abandoned software (this can be a release or the latest cvs/svn code)
• List for each project: basic information, the start date, all release dates (with changelog), date the project died, reason why the project died (if known), important facts in the project (e.g. important developer leaves the project, company starts/stops to support development, forks,...)
• Add as much useful links as possible (Internet Archive's WayBack Machine can help here)
• Keep all this up to date

• PR: provide a source for press people and researchers
• community: creation of community identity
