About Me
General Background
I have worked in the IT and Engineering field for the last 13 years. I have spent the last 4 years working Dave Richards as technical lead on remote connectivity with building automation systems. Prior to this I architecture and business analyst responsibilities for global B2B2C e-business platform focusing on business automation via integrated systems. Recently I have joined Coversant, Inc. as Director of Business Development with responsibilities to include product management.
Past Protocol Work
I have not been working in protocol based development for an extended time, but do have an extensive background in integration architecture and solution planning. I have been working with XMPP for the past year specifically in scale and it use in non instant messaging environments.
XMPP Projects
Over the past year XMPP has been a critical component of solution I was responsible for. Myself and Dave Richards used the SoapBox family of products in a Remote Device Monitor solution for a Fortune 500 company. I was the technical lead responsible for the design and development of a system that used XMPP for machine-to-machine communication to monitor machine health and to collect and analyze data for the purpose of system optimization. This was my first adventure into XMPP and I have seen the potential uses for this technology, which influenced my decision to pursue an opportunity with Coversant.
Why I Am Seeking Membership
I would like become more involved in the XMPP community to better understand how the technology can be leveraged and to increase the visibility of the protocol for use beyond the instant messaging realm. With my current role at Coversant I get the opportunity to get direct feedback from customers that will prove valuable in further definition of the standard.
I am interested in involvement with both the Communication and Technical Review teams. Myself and Coversant are vested in XMPP in its successful future.
