This page lists applications for membership in the [http://xmpp.org/about-xmpp/xsf/ XMPP Standards Foundation] received for Q1 2020.
Hello!

Applications are welcome from people who are active in the Jabber/XMPP community!
I am Edward Maurer and usually know as ''emus'' or ''echolon''.

To apply, create a wiki page about yourself. If you don't have a wiki account, join the [xmpp:jdev@conference.jabber.org?join jdev chatroom] or send your name, e-mail address, and preferred nickname in CamelCase to one of the [[Sysops]], who will be happy to create an account for you.
Hereby I would like to apply for membership in the XSF.

== About Me ==

It is not enough to just add your name! We (the voters) want to know for whom we give a yes or no vote, and we want to know what you have done with Jabber/XMPP technologies and why you want to be a member of the XSF. See recent [[Membership Applications]] for examples.
Currently I am working in the wind power industry which, unfortunately, is not related to XMPP - at least not yet! :) Energy and Environmental Engineering is what I studied in Hamburg.

Please include as much information as possible when applying.
I use XMPP as my main communication since 2016. My main active involvement is the [https://wiki.xmpp.org/web/German_translations German] and [https://wiki.xmpp.org/web/Spanish_translations Spanish] translation of the monthly XMPP Newsletter.
Another thing I work on is the [https://invent.kde.org/kde/kaidan/issues/288 On-boarding] of XMPP newcomers. Hereby I am trying and testing to define soft and hard criteria for servers which are sufficient for very new people within XMPP. This already lead to significant service improvement of selected servers. Furthermore I invest some time to give more or less quality feedback and improvement suggestions to different clients as well as supporting developers with communication and organizational support. In 2018 and 2019 I attended to XMPP Meetups and a Sprint in Berlin.

The following information is required with each application:
In general, I see myself as a bridge - I connect and thrive potential between the islands.

* full name
''Bridging XMPP with <3''
* Jabber ID
* e-mail address
* Company name (however, everyone serves as an individual, not a company representative)

Note that we need the foregoing information because members may ask you some questions and we need them for our records. Some members ask questions using the discussion page of your application, please visit it from time to time. Your JID and e-mail are '''required''' to contact you upon acceptance!
== Why XMPP? ==
It is 2020 now and still most people condense their digital life into closed and proprietary software and databases. In terms of communication, XMPP is, with its decentralized, open, modular  and last but not least standardize setup, the right choice for the upcoming challenges and threats to our digital ongoing turnaround. It might be not the easiest choice of technology, however it is the right one in my opinion.

Responsibilities of XSF members are listed here.

Hello!

I am Edward Maurer and usually know as emus or echolon.

Hereby I would like to apply for membership in the XSF.

About Me

Currently I am working in the wind power industry which, unfortunately, is not related to XMPP - at least not yet! :) Energy and Environmental Engineering is what I studied in Hamburg.

I use XMPP as my main communication since 2016. My main active involvement is the German and Spanish translation of the monthly XMPP Newsletter. Another thing I work on is the On-boarding of XMPP newcomers.

In general, I see myself as a bridge - I connect and thrive potential between the islands.

Bridging XMPP with <3

Why XMPP?

It is 2020 now and still most people condense their digital life into closed and proprietary software and databases. In terms of communication, XMPP is, with its decentralized, open, modular and last but not least standardize setup, the right choice for the upcoming challenges and threats to our digital ongoing turnaround. It might be not the easiest choice of technology, however it is the right one in my opinion.
