This page provides an up-to-date snapshot of activity related to XMPP Extension Protocols, as maintained by the XEP Editor.

Interim Versions

These are Draft and Final XEPs that are undergoing revision. All such changes must be approved by the XMPP Council before they are officially published.

XEP-0060: Publish-Subscribe

Current version: 1.13rc8

Status: Revisions are close to complete. Probably ready for a Council vote in December.

XEP-0163: Personal Eventing Protocol

Current version: 1.2rc4

Status: See note on XEP-0060.

XEP-0166: Jingle

Current version: 1.1rc1

Status: Revisions are close to complete. Will be ready for a Council vote in December.

XEP-0167: Jingle RTP Sessions

Current version: 1.1rc1

Status: Revisions are close to complete. Will be ready for a Council vote in December.

XEP-0177: Jingle Raw UDP Transport Method

Current version: 1.1rc1

Status: Revisions are close to complete. Will be ready for a Council vote in December.

XEP-0249: Direct MUC Invitations

Current version: 1.1rc1

Status: Revisions complete (added password attribute). Ready for a vote by the Council.

Calls for Experience

A Call for Experience is issued when the Council is considering advancement of a XEP from Draft to Final.

There are no Calls for Experience at this time.

Last Calls

A Last Call is issued when the Council is considering advancement of a XEP from Experiment to Draft (or, for informational specifications, Active).

A second Last Call on XEP-0227: Portable Import/Export Format for XMPP-IM Servers ended on November 6. Further changes might be forthcoming

A Last Call on XEP-0226: Message Stanza Profiles ended on November 13. Modifications to follow.

To Be Deferred

Experimental XEPs are automatically deferred after 12 months of inactivity (i.e., no new published version).

The following XEPs are set to be automatically deferred within the next 30 days.
