This page provides an up-to-date snapshot of activity related to XMPP Extension Protocols, as maintained by the XEP Editor for use by the XMPP Council. This page is structured in "maturity order", with Final and Draft XEPs listed first, then Experimental XEPs, then proposals that have not yet been accepted as XEPs.

Interim Versions

These are Draft and Final XEPs that are undergoing revision. All such changes must be approved by the XMPP Council before they are officially published.

XEP-0047: In-Band Bytestreams

Version: 1.3rc2

Changelog: Clarified error handling.

Status: Seems complete but might need further review. Perhaps move forward with other file-transfer-related specs (65, 234, 260, 261).

Current and Recent Last Calls

A Last Call is issued when the Council is considering advancement of a XEP from Experiment to Draft (or, for informational specifications, Active).

A Last Call on XEP-0255: Location Query ended on May 21, 2010. The authors are working on a revised version.

A Last Call on XEP-0226: Message Stanza Profiles ended on November 13, 2009. The authors are working on a revised version.

Experimental XEPs Slated for Last Call

  • XEP-0234: Jingle File Transfer is ready for a Last Call. The protocol appears to be stable and feature-complete. There are several interoperable implementations.
