Hello My name is Mog aka Mathias Matthew Maximilian Kolbe of the house of blue Gormain the first or just Matt O'Gorman. I am applying for membership to the JSF.

History

I attend the University of Alabama in Huntsville, where I am studying Computer Science and Computer Engineering. I also work as a software developer at Digium, where I mainly work on Asterisk. I come from a large family with 2 brothers and 3 sisters.

Jabber/XMPP Projects

Code

  • I have been developing AstJab, Asterisk+Jabber, for almost 6 months now on and off to allow for asterisk to connect to jabber servers as a component or a client.
  • Also I have been working on chan_xmpp for asterisk which will use my previous work to allow asterisk to speak the jingle protocol and use it internally with asterisk.

Plans for the future

I plan to continue implementing further integration of Jabber into Asterisk to allow for tons of features, jabber voice mail access, meetme/chatroom connections, jabber ivr systems, not to mention harnessing jabber's routing abilities to relay events across networks between asterisk servers.

Jabber - Why I like it

I fell in love with jabber as it was very easy to implement into my project, has been very logical in its methods. But most importantly other than irc it is the only chat protocol that is truly open, and irc is far to simplistic to do anything complicated like I have already done and plan to do.

Why I'm applying

I would love to participate more in what goes into jabber and help shape it into a better protocol for me and everyone else.
