Overview

The Jabber Software Foundation (JSF) will hold its second XMPP interoperability testing event and devcon on Monday, February 26, 2007 in Brussels, Belgium. This is the Monday after FOSDEM 2007. All interested developers of XMPP servers, clients, and code libraries are welcome to attend.

Testing Focus

The focus for this event will still be core XMPP compliance, including the modifications in rfc3920bis and rfc3921bis. This will help us complete the RFC changes.

Discussion Topics

During the interop testing day we will have time to discuss a variety of topics that need to be worked on in the XMPP world. The plan is to have some preliminary discussions over the weekend during FOSDEM and then focus on a few high-priority topics to discuss on Monday. Here are some potential topics to discuss:

  • Clarifications to rfc3920bis -- especially dialback and SASL EXTERNAL
  • Personal Eventing via Pubsub (PEP)
  • End-to-end encryption
  • Jingle
  • Spim prevention
  • Set up of online testing environment
  • Simultaneous XML editing (for whiteboarding etc.)
  • Intermediate Certification Authority (ICA)

Logistics

The meeting will be held at the Atlas Hotel at Rue du Vieux Marché aux Grains 30 in Brussels. We have reserved a block of rooms at the hotel but it is downtown so other options (youth hostels etc.) are conveniently located nearby. If you reserve a room at the Atlas Hotel, please specify "XMPP conference on 26 Feb" in the comments so you get the right room rate.
