XMPP Summit 12

The XMPP Standards Foundation (XSF) will hold its 12th XMPP Summit on October 25 and 26 in Portland, Oregon, USA. This is the Thursday and Friday after the Keeping It Realtime Conference (krtconf).

As always, the XMPP Summit is a free event. However, space is limited to approximately 25 people. If you would like to participate in this event, please join the summit@xmpp.org discussion list and post with your participation request. Please note that the XMPP Summit is not designed for people who are just interested in learning about XMPP (e.g., we will not have introductory tutorials), but instead for active technical contributors in the XMPP community.

Agenda

Summit agendas are worked out on the summit@xmpp.org discussion list. Please join that list to help shape the agenda.

This time we will hold one half-day session exploring the use of XMPP in the SmartGrid and Internet of Things. We might also hold a similar half-day session on another topic of interest, such as interaction between XMPP and the WebRTC work happening at the IETF and W3C.

If you would like to give a talk or a tutorial, please post to the summit list or contact Peter Saint-Andre directly.

Logistics

This event will be held at the Marriott Portland City Center, which is also the conference hotel for krtconf. If you are attending krtconf, you might be able to obtain a reduced rate for sleeping rooms. The XSF is still working on a reduced rate for Summit attendees.

Remote Participation

We will use Google Hangouts, the summit@muc.xmpp.org chatroom, and an etherpad instance for coordination and remote participation. Full details to follow.
