Intro

The 2008 edition of FOSDEM (the Free and Open source Software Developers' Europe Meeting) will take place at the ULB, Brussels, Belgium over the weekend of February 23-24 2008.

Here is the plan for the Jabber/XMPP community...

We don't have a FOSDEM "devroom" this year so we will focus on a booth at FOSDEM on Saturday. Jabberites will also be encouraged to attend various FOSDEM talks on Saturday.

On Sunday and Monday (hours and location to be determined) we will hold an "devcon" at the Atlas Hotel in Brussels.

If you want to help out with the booth or attend the devcon, leave your name below. If you do not have an account at this wiki, contact Alexander Gnauck and he will create an account for you.

Booth volunteers:

  • Peter Saint-Andre

  • Solarius

XMPP Devcon

If you would like to participate in the XMPP devcon, please leave your name below.

To participate in the devcon, we ask that you please commit to preparing a brief presentation about some aspect of Jabber/XMPP technologies. Your presentation can be just a 2-minute "kickoff" for discussion about a topic you find important, or it can be a longer talk that provides in-depth coverage of a topic. Possible topics include an implementation report regarding an RFC or XEP, a discussion of deployment challenges (e.g., digital certificates), a proposal to improve an existing XMPP extension or develop a new extension, process improvements for the XMPP Standards Foundation, ideas for building a stronger developer community, etc. Please mention the topic of your presentation or presentations (or talk with stpeter to discuss ideas).

  • Alexander Gnauck (implementing BOSH)
  • Florian Jensen (deployment challenges at an ISP)
  • Claus E. Krämer (deployment challenges at an ISP)
  • Peter Saint-Andre (file transfer, whiteboarding, ICA report, deployment forum)
  • Jakob Schröter

  • Robert McQueen (Jingle implementation, file transfer, PEP for MUCs, communities...)
