Motivation

I've been working on XMPP-related project implementations in the Telecoms sector for the Financial community for over 25 years. I developed a call control XEP called Openlink that has been used by major wealth and investment banks since 2009. My day job involves integrating XMPP with Azure Communications Services. I believe that my experience and skills are valuable and can be contributed to the XSF.

I have also been contributing to XMPP as a member of the Ignite Realtime community since its creation and have initiated and contributed to several projects. I am currently working on a live music production application that uses XMPP for live real-time collaboration with WebRTC and WebAudio.

I have and still enjoy a very fulfilling career with XMPP. My motivation for re-applying for XSF membership is to contribute back to the community what I have learnt working with Azure Communication Services over the last 5 years.

Background

I got introduced to XMPP in the early noughties, when I was working at British Telecom (BT) in the UK. I was working in Trading Systems, a division that produced specialised telecom systems for trading floors. I later introduced XMPP to my project team and we built a real-time call control application based on Openfire, a project that continues to keep me gainfully employed.

In 2010, I left BT and became self-employed and specialised in web browser based real-time communications. I am a system integrator. I turn communication ideas into working prototypes and then evolve them into fully scaled and supported applications while working with others.
