The XMPP Standards Foundation (XSF) will hold its 28th XMPP Summit in the two days preceding FOSDEM 2026 at 29 & 30 January 2026.

Introduction
The Summit is an annual two-day gathering where we discuss XMPP protocol development topics. It is a place for XMPP developers to meet each other, and make progress on current issues within the protocol and ecosystem. Discussions are often of a deeply technical nature, though we do try to separate these with lighter high-level topics too.
If this sounds like the right event for you, come and join us! It is open to all community members and participation is free of cost. As said we just ask that you register below, so we know how many people will attend and we can plan accordingly. (Please, also announce if you cannot participate anymore, so we can offer the place to others.)
Not sure you would enjoy this event? That's okay, you might prefer to come along and meet us at FOSDEM instead! We will have people from many XMPP projects there, and we'd love to talk to you.

Conduct and policies
We expect all attendees to be familiar with our Community Code of Conduct.
If you would prefer not to be included in any photography of the event, that's totally fine and you're not alone! A member of the XSF's communications team will be responsible for photography and social media posts at the event, just let them know. Any photos taken, will be done with the right sensibility.

This year we will be at another place to respect our budget expenses, so don't expect the level of Thon please. The meeting room is limited to 25 people. So please check your participation early and only sign-up if you are seriously considering to come.

Servings and Lunch
As this year its a new location, also the serving options are different. To respect everyone’s need the following proposal is made. During the day we can order pastries and sandwiches. For lunch we can go to an outside restaurant. Additionally, to respect nutrition needs, we will also buy fruits and vegan option on our own (please make suggestions).
Board announced a budget of 25€ per person and per day.

Next please also add your suggestions on what we should order. We are also happy for new ideas, design proposals.
- Name: Promotion material idea, reference images/designs, thoughts on your idea
- Goffi: Small table at RT Lounge next to the pillows with flyers to talk comfortably with people.
- Goffi: Free coffee and tea to encourage people to come and engage in conversation. Need to check if this is possible and allowed first. We would need boiler, coffee machine, evtl. thermoses, coffee, tea, water, cups, sugar, spoons, maybe milk too. ==> It seems that it's not allowed, but we can still try to make it more "lounge" with candies and stuff like that.
- Goffi: Can we replace the projector setup done by ralphm it with messages from Mastodon/ActivityPub and XMPP using the AP Gateway? Can take care of the software part. We can also mix that with screenshots/videos of various XMPP clients every X minutes.
- Ge0rG: will bring a small number of compact cameras that can post photos right to XMPP / Mastodon, that would work great with a public MUC or a fediwall display.
