XMPP related projects

  • My bachelor thesis integrated Secure ENUM (DNS(SEC) Presense and Routing of telephonenumbers) with XMPP and Asterisk in a prototype of Unified Messaging. For this work I created enhancements to eJabberd in the form of LDAP storage.
  • Designed and implemented the XMPP architecture for a startup called Calendar42, implementing a realtime calendaring app using XEP-0060/XEP-0030/XEP-0080/BOSH.
  • Designed and implemented the XMPP architecture for the openOV project, implementing a realtime transit API/PubSub over XMPP.
  • Implemented a webfrontend for pubsub/service discovery architectures.
  • Bugreports, patches, examples and implementations for eJabberd and SleekXMPP.

Feedback on standards

  • Send out feedback on the XEP-0080 draft.

Reasons for wanting to be a member

In the last few years it never popped on my mind to become a member of the foundation, maybe it felt like being part of an elite organisation, I wasn't qualified to be part of, because I wasn't capable in inventing standards. My questions about them were answered in a muc, or irc, on a mailinglist. Never felt any difference between members and other participants.

So why do I want to participate now? I think it is a good thing to commit myself to these standards I work with daily, and hopefully understand them correctly. To help improving them from experience in the field and from prior academic knowledge, and try to give direction and input within meetings.
