My name is Michael Grigutsch and I'm applying for XSF membership. (It's a late reapplication, I was member of XSF from July 2008 to July 2009 and missed the date for the July 2009 applications)

History

I am a 38 years old, living in Cologne, and studied "Rechtspflege", a special law study here in Germany for becoming a clerk at a court. Since 2001 I'm working as computer/network administrator for the german federal government.

I'm administrating my own Jabber server since October 2003 with half a dozen of domains, most of them for other people.

Jabber/XMPP Projects

  • jabber.i-pobox.net/xmppnet.de, my Jabber server.
  • contributed to the ejabberd Installation and Operation Guide
  • contributed to PyRSS

Plans for the future

I'm more the practician. As a server admin I get some ideas I like to contribute, e.g. a XEP describing how to forward messages from one account to another.

Jabber - Why I like it

I like to build up and maintain communication infrastructure for other people and for myself. (I'm also radio amateur and a former sysop of a fidonet mailbox.) In my opinion, XMPP/Jabber is the best ground to build up such projects in the internet. The potential of XMPP is very big and we are just at the start to use it.

Why I'm (re)applying

I would like to bring in my ideas and proposals and help establish them as XEPs. I would also be able to (and like to) help managing both the XSF and XEPs. Last but not least I would like to help maintaining the XSF Infrastructure like Websites, DNS-Server etc.
