My name is Guillaume Le Gales and I'm applying for XSF membership.

History
I am 27 years old, living in Paris France. I studied at the French school of "Arts et Métiers", a generalist engineering university.
Web passionate since I'm 10, I used to be an IRC user and I've always been coding diffent Internet stuff on my free time. I worked as a consultant for 3 years in the Telecom & Media industry, on several web projects like 2424actu in France for Orange.
Since september 2008, I've been working full time for the company I founded : U Federation. It's a free XMPP based service for people to groupchat in MUCs, with the possibility to broadcast audio video content, through a web interface.

- U Federation : founder and CTO of an XMPP groupchat service with a web interface, using JSJAC over Bosh, running with eJabberd
- Buzz des politiques : coded a ranking service for French politics using the Collecta API

- Marketing 3.0 : founder of French blog Marketing 3.0 promoting XMPP, with technological & marketing news, available from Planet JabberFR and PubSubHubbub friendly
- JabberFR : member of JabberFR, have made several contributions in the JabberFR Wiki on MUC and web interfaces

Why I like Jabber
I am an XMPP fan because it's :
- open, flexible and stable
- becoming THE standard for real time communication
- changing the rules of the traditional proprietary IM
Why I'm applying
I've now been coding and working with XMPP for a year. I'm very interested in going further and getting more involved in the XMPP community through :
- providing feedback from my implementation experience
- contributing to MUC related XEPs and documentation
- promoting XMPP technology and services
